COURSE DEVELOPMENT - KEY DATES

CLUB

1972 – Club formed.

1983 – Club affiliated to EGU.

1986 – Club assumes full responsibility for maintenance of the course and for some machinery and equipment.

1992 – Club assumes full responsibility for the provision of all machinery and equipment.

2000 – Club negotiates renewal of lease to 2021.

2001 – Club obtains planning permission for clubhouse.

2006 – Club renews planning permission for clubhouse.

COURSE

1960 – Course (9 holes) constructed, advised by Arthur Howell, professional at the York Golf Club.

1983 – New hole (10 holes in total), course measured, holes renumbered, and SSS of 63 allocated. Length – 4065 yards.

1986-90 – Bunkers relined, refilled and surrounds returfed. Tees extended and returfed.

1991 – First green moved and constructed in safer position.

1992 – Putting green introduced.

1993 – New third tee constructed.

1994 – New eighteenth tee constructed. New fairway bunkers on third hole.

1995 – Additional land acquired for two new holes. New bunkers for the second hole constructed.

1996 – New sixth tee constructed.

1997 – Two new holes opened for play, three short par 3's closed (back to 9 holes), course measured, holes renumbered, and SSS of 69 allocated. Length – 5567 yards.

1998 – Ninth green lifted, remodelled, drained, gravel and sand base inserted, and returfed. Third green extended.

1999 – First green lifted, remodelled, drained, gravel and sand base inserted, and returfed.

2000 – Second green lifted, remodelled, drained, gravel and sand base inserted, and returfed.

2001 – New sixth green constructed with drainage, gravel and sand base inserted, and turfed.

2002 – New seventh green constructed with drainage, gravel and sand base inserted, and turfed. New eighth tee constructed.

2003 – New eighth green constructed with drainage, gravel and sand base inserted, and turfed.

2004 – New seventeenth tee constructed. New sixth tee constructed.

2005 – New first tee, new putting green, and short game practice area introduced. Course measured. Holes renumbered. Length – 5600 yards.

2006 – Review of bunkering. Second tee extended and path created from 1 st green to second tee.

2007 – First phase of bunker review completed with the addition of three new bunkers on the 4/13 th hole.
